According to Statista Research the market size of the United Kingdom's fast food and takeaway industry stood at £23.1 billion in 2025 with over 400,000 employees working within the sector.

In January 2025 the UK had 50000 businesses (Statista Research) listed in both the take away and fast food sectors. listed within these businesses were well known brands such as KFC, Greggs and McDonald's, all of which regularly rank amongst the UK’s top ten popular dining brands. Greggs specifically, has experienced exponential growth over the last 20 years, its turnover than tripling between 2006 and 2023.

A 2023 survey which looked at the nations favourite takeaway food found that Pizza was the most popular takeaway food in the UK (that year), with half of the participants choosing the dish. .
